STEP 1 The foreign national passes the Specified Skills Exam and the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, or completes Technical Intern Training (ii).

STEP 2 Conclude an employment contract with the foreign national. (※1)
↓
STEP 3 Formulate the foreign national’s support plan. (Provide support in-house, or entrust it to a registered support organization ※1-1)
↓
STEP 4 File an application for permission to change the residence status at the Regional Immigration Services Bureau. (※2)
↓
STEP 5 Residence status changes to “Specified Skilled Worker (i)”
↓
STEP 6 Start of employment

※1 Please carry this out before filing the application for a Certificate of Eligibility or a change of residence status:
・Pre-guidance by the accepting organization, etc.
・Health checkup
※1-1 You can outsource the implementation of a part of the Specified Skilled Worker (i) support plan to a third party, or outsource the entire implementation to a registered support organization. (When outsourcing a part, the accepting organization must meet the standards for the support system.)
※2 Main required documents:
・Summary of the accepting organization
・Copy of the Specified Skilled Worker employment contract
・Specified Skilled Worker (i) support plan
・Documents proving skills
・Documents proving Japanese language ability, etc.
