Long-Term Resident Visa (Child Who Entered Japan Accompanying Their Parents)
For foreign nationals residing in Japan who accompanied their parents, etc., they may be granted a change of residence status to “Long-Term Resident” or “Designated Activities” if they wish to work in Japan after graduating from high school, etc.
Change to Long-Term Resident
As can be seen from the chart above, if a person entered Japan with a “Dependent” visa before graduating from elementary school, subsequently graduated from middle school and high school, and has an informal job offer, they can change to a “Long-Term Resident” visa.
Change to Designated Activities
If a person entered Japan with a “Dependent” visa after graduating from elementary school, they do not meet the requirements for a “Long-Term Resident” visa and will be changed to a “Designated Activities” visa.
