Application Requirements for Japan’s Working Holiday Visa

To apply for a Working Holiday Visa for Japan, you must meet the following main conditions:

  • Be a citizen of a partner country: You must be a resident of one of the countries or regions that has a Working Holiday agreement with Japan.
  • Age limit: You must be between 18 and 30 years old at the time of application. Some countries may have different age restrictions.
  • Primary purpose: Your main purpose for the stay must be a holiday. Work is only permitted as a supplementary activity to help fund your trip.
  • Dependents: You cannot bring any children or other dependents with you.
  • Financial proof: You must hold a valid passport, an airline ticket for your return flight (or enough funds to purchase one), and sufficient funds to support yourself during the initial period of your stay.
  • Health: You must be in good health.
  • Previous use: You must not have previously obtained this visa. A second application is permitted in some countries, but this is an exception.
