Purpose of stay:

① Short-Term Stay Visa Application Form	Can be downloaded from the website of the Japanese embassy/consulate. Attach a photo
② Passport	Must be valid after the application and have at least two blank visa pages
③ Photo (1)	A color photo taken within the last 6 months with a plain background
④ Itinerary	Your schedule during your stay in Japan (places to visit, accommodations, contact information, etc.)
⑤ Documents to prove financial solvency	Bank statements, proof of salary, tax certificates, etc. (from either the applicant or the guarantor)
⑥ Flight and hotel booking confirmations (optional)	Not required to be confirmed reservations (tentative bookings are okay)

For tourism (e.g., solo travel):
- In addition to the common documents, the itinerary and proof of financial solvency are especially important.
For visiting relatives or acquaintances:
- “Letter of Invitation” and “Letter of Guarantee” from the person residing in Japan.
- The inviter’s resident certificate, income certificate, etc.
For business:
- “Letter of Invitation” and “Company Profile” from the inviting company.
- A dispatch letter (business trip order) from your affiliated company, etc.

Japanese embassy or consulate general in the applicant’s country of residence.
In some countries, applications must be made through a designated travel agency (accredited agency) (e.g., Indonesia).

Submitted documents are generally not returned.
False declarations or incomplete documents may result in visa rejection and a period during which re-application is not possible.
