2.【Visa Application Process】
- Prepare necessary documents

- Applicant or proxy applies at a Japanese embassy or consulate general abroad
- Screening (usually takes about 5 business days)
- Visa is affixed to the passport and returned
*Electronic visa application (eVISA) is also available in some countries (e.g., Indonesia, Philippines)

4.【Additional Documents by Purpose of Visit】
- For tourism (e.g., solo travel):
- In addition to the common documents, the itinerary and proof of financial solvency are especially important.
- For visiting relatives or acquaintances:
- “Letter of Invitation” and “Letter of Guarantee” from the person residing in Japan.
- The inviter’s resident certificate, income certificate, etc.
- For business:
- “Letter of Invitation” and “Company Profile” from the inviting company.
- A dispatch letter (business trip order) from your affiliated company, etc.
5.【Application Location】
- Japanese embassy or consulate general in the applicant’s country of residence.
- In some countries, applications must be made through a designated travel agency (accredited agency) (e.g., Indonesia).
