About Preferential Treatment (Highly-Skilled Professional [ii])

Individuals certified as Highly-Skilled Professionals are granted the following preferential treatments regarding immigration and residency.

In the case of “Highly-Skilled Professional (ii)”:

a. In addition to the activities permitted for “Highly-Skilled Professional (i),” you can engage in almost all activities permitted for other work-related statuses of residence in conjunction with those activities.

b. The period of stay becomes “indefinite.” c. There are four preferential treatments that are the same as for “Highly-Skilled Professional (i)”

Relaxation of permanent residency requirements related to residency history

Employment of a spouse

Permission for parents to accompany under certain conditions

Permission for a domestic servant to accompany under certain conditions
