What is the Highly Skilled Professional Visa?
The Highly Skilled Professional Visa is one of the work-related visas.
It can be obtained if you score a total of 70 points, which are calculated based on a points-based system from the Immigration Services Agency. Points are awarded for factors such as academic background, income, years of work experience, Japanese language ability, and age.
This visa is also referred to as for “highly skilled human resources,” and many foreigners change their visa status to this from other work visas, such as the “Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services” visa.
The Highly Skilled Professional Visa is divided into Type 1 and Type 2. As a general rule, you first obtain Type 1, and after three years, you become eligible to apply for Type 2.
